First year – Preparation. The first year training is arranged according to five competenties a therapist needs to have (indicating, designing a treatment plan, executing a treatment plan, research and innovation and functioning in a professional organisation). In the first year, students of Creative Arts & Psychomotor/movement Therapy experience the power of their medium. By discovering their own skills and making their own experiences in their medium, the students learn to distinguish therapeutic qualities. Students are also trained in communication- and therapeutic skills as well as in psychopathology. The aquired knowledge is practiced in simulated therapy settings such as performance assessments. A short internship allows the student to familiarize him or herself with some practical work.

Second, third, fourth year – Main Study. The student increases competence concerning theoretical knowledge, personal insight and practical skills. Throughout the training the student will experience his or her own strengths and weaknesses and learn to work with them accordingly. In this main phase of the course, the student learns to increase his or her professional attitude as Creative Arts & Psychomotor/movement Therapist in the educational as well as in a practical setting. One year of the course, the student works as an intern four days a week with the support of a supervisor. The student also carries out a research project in a high quality professional setting. The student choses a minor to deepen or expand competencies. In this main phase of the studies, the student specialises knowledge and skills according to his or her own interests, or future professional opportunities.
