Music
 
Instrumental:

Candidate expresses good competency on his or her major instrument and has an adequate level of competency concerning technique.

Candidate is possibly competent on other instruments.

Candidate has sufficient musical and instrumental-technique experience as well as motor skills to be able to learn to play the piano during the four year training.

 

Rhythm:

Candidate is able to clap simple rhythms of binary and ternary characters (imitate and vary).

Candidate is able to read and play more advanced rhythms.

Candidate is able to write simple rhythms.
 

Melody:

Candidate is able to listen to and repeat simple melodies by singing or playing them.

Candidate is able to use a given motif to sing or play a melodic line.

Candidate is able to vocally or instrumentally improvise on a rhythmic accompaniment.

Candidate is able to sight sing a simple melody.
 

Music theory:

Candidate is able to differentiate and recognize minor and major chords.

Candidate is able to hear and sing intervals.

Candidate is able to sing minor and major scales.

Candidate is able to recognize scales and keys.
 

Improvisation:

Candidate is able to vocally and instrumentally improvise melodically on a given theme.

Candidate is able to musically make and maintain contact with others.

Candidate is able to improvise on a non-musical theme on his or her major instrument.

Candidate is able to improvise on a musical and a non-musical theme on Orff- or percussion instruments.

Candidate is able to improvise in these forms (see above) individually and as part of a group.
 

Voice:

Candidate is able to sing a prepared song with or without accompaniment.

Candidate is able to use his or her voice expressively and in tone.
 

Performance:

Candidate presents responsible choices of music and is able to reflect upon these. (Why do I play this, what does it say about me?)

Candidate is able to move forward as well as take back during improvisation. (Not holding onto personal playing agenda).

Candidate is able to listen to feedback upon his or her attitude during performance.

 

Homework:

Candidate has fulfilled the homework tasks.

Candidate is able to perform the homework tasks in cooperation with others.
